Matt Fitzpatrick won the RBC Heritage golf tournament on Sunday at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, S.C., defeating Jordan Spieth in a playoff. Fitzpatrick clinched the tournament with a tap-in birdie after a clutch approach shot with his 9-iron on the 18th hole. Spieth had two birdie putts in the playoff holes, but failed to sink both of them, allowing Fitzpatrick to claim his second PGA Tour win. Fitzpatrick won $3.6 million for his victory, while Spieth received $2.18 million for finishing as the runner-up. The RBC Heritage was one of eight events with an elevated purse in 2022, rising from $8 million to $20 million this year.
