Martinsville Spring Race Favorites

The Martinsville spring race has been moved from its previous night slot to an afternoon race on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on FS1. This change was made after the race was run at night for the past three seasons. Additionally, this year’s race is 100 laps shorter than usual, as NASCAR had shortened the spring race to 400 laps last year, which was well received. However, the 2022 spring race was disappointing to many viewers due to NASCAR’s car regulations, which have since been changed for races on short tracks. Drivers are pleased with these changes, and it’s hoped that they will result in more passing and less aerodynamic turbulence at Martinsville. The favorites include William Byron and Kyle Larson. Larson, who is usually a favorite due to his talent and equipment, finished second in the fall race at the track a year ago and was fifth at the spring race in 2021.
