Patrick Mahomes’ Lingering Ankle Injury

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes plans to fully recover from the high ankle sprain he sustained during the playoffs and be ready for training camp with no restrictions. Despite starting the Chiefs’ offseason program, Mahomes is holding his workouts in Texas with a group of receivers, running backs, and tight ends. Mahomes sustained the ankle injury during the divisional round of the playoffs but played through it in the AFC title game and Super Bowl victory. Although he hasn’t tested the ankle with full-speed running and cutting, Mahomes has been managing it and gradually improving its mobility. He believes that by the time they get to training camp, he will be without any limitations. Mahomes also stated that the ankle injury isn’t as severe as the foot injury he sustained last year, which required surgery and affected his mobility for a more extended period. Head coach Andy Reid has allowed players to attend meetings remotely to freshen up after a long season, including playing in the Super Bowl and having a parade.
