Rory McIlroy will be deprived of $3 million from his Player Impact Program payout for not attending the RBC Heritage tournament in South Carolina this week. McIlroy, who did not make the cut at the Masters last week, had already skipped one designated event, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, which was permitted to each player. According to a source from Sports Illustrated, he is now being penalized 25% of his $12 million payout for his second absence. The PGA Tour introduced the Player Impact Program last year to encourage the top players to participate in designated events, with a $100 million bonus pool for 2022. However, it is now being altered for next year, with the bonus pool reduced to $50 million and not being tied to designated events.
