The Tampa Bay Rays have extended their season-opening winning streak to 11 games with a 7-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox. Brandon Lowe hit his fourth consecutive home run, while Yandy Diaz and Josh Lowe added back-to-back solo shots in the fifth inning. Isaac Paredes also homered for the Rays, and starter Shane McClanahan struck out nine batters in five-plus innings of one-run ball. The Rays have matched the major league record for homers through 11 games with 29. With their strong start, the Rays are closing in on the best start in major league history since 1900, at a 13-0, shared by the 1982 Atlanta Braves and the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers. Despite their recent struggles, Red Sox manager Alex Cora praised the Rays’ offense, saying they are playing good baseball and putting good swings on good pitches.
